Starting Rate: Between $25-$35/hr depending on experience

One brand, in particular, is a fast-growing consultancy that serves Indigenous organizations by promoting Indigenous interests, culture & worldview to various stakeholders.

The Opportunity:

Working remotely with a vibrant, nimble team, the successful candidate will be expected to schedule and perform interviews, conduct background research and produce thoughtful, well-written, and culturally appropriate content for our clients. 

Candidates must be self-motivated and interested in social justice issues. The ideal candidate will have either experience working within Indigenous-led organizations, equivalent cultural sensitivity training, or a strong appreciation for Indigenous culture combined with a desire to learn.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Research, interview and write articles for our clients -  tailoring content to meet the varying needs of the stakeholders.

  • Initiate research and develop ideas to further the perspective of the article.

  • Reach out to sources, interview, and record conversations to use as supplemental material. 

  • Conduct interviews on zoom where needed, recording and filming video clips. 

 

Who you are:

  • A curious and enthusiastic person, with experience in deadline-oriented reporting/writing situations.

  • A detail-oriented person with an understanding of the importance of nuance and cultural sensitivity.

  • Fluency in digital platforms like zoom, the Microsoft or Google suite of office tools, and ideally, Slack. 

  • Ability to work quickly and independently, meet multiple deadlines, and make efficient decisions.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Indigenous studies or journalism - however, training is provided.
