Official Bio:

Laurel Anne Stark is a business and marketing consultant, experienced mental health advocate, and founder of resurgo. 

In 2016, Laurel noticed a pattern of troubling behaviours in many of her clients: deficient self-confidence, shame, substance abuse and even suicidal ideation. These behaviours were deeply impacting their business performance. Her passion for supporting her clients drove her to research the causes of and possible solutions to these behaviours.

She and her team uncovered study after study that found serious mental health implications for the self-employed, which are actually compounded for women in business. Laurel’s in depth research found that self-employed women are at dangerously high risk of being affected by poor mental health.

She founded the resurgo platform in 2019 to help self employed women proactively & affordably take control of their mental health. 

Laurel is currently writing her second non-fiction book to highlight her research findings, share her lived experience as a female entrepreneur in long term recovery, and offer her insights on how self-employed women can effectively manage their mental health. 

Laurel is also the founder of The New Media Group, and has been supporting people in the workplace since 2003 through her courses, private coaching and mentoring, speaking engagements, online communities and regular content production, including a podcast. Laurel has been featured on CNN, CTV and Entrepreneur.com, and is a three-time nominee of the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards presented by Women Of Influence. Laurel resides in Victoria BC and Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
